Dakota Plains Development is a partner in a 17 acre commercial site at the traffic lighted corner of US-12 & US-281 in Aberdeen. This intersection links two 4-lane highways with 10 counties and 75,000 people, making Aberdeen truly the "Hub City" of the region.

WYOMING PROJECT

Dakota Plains Development, in partnership with Custom Touch Homes of Madison, SD, is building twin and single family homes in Wright, WY. The twin home and single-family home project now under development, named Wright Estates, will consist of 185 lots and is projected to take up to five years to finalize.

Wyoming MapThe economy in the Wright area, in the southern part of Campbell County, is based on natural resources and mining. With the anticipated growth in the development of coal production and coal-related activities such as railroads and coal-fired power plants, and oil & gas expansion, new permanent jobs and temporary construction jobs will be created resulting in a need for additional housing in Wright. Studies have shown that, even with the current housing and labor conditions in Wright, there is a significant need for added housing.

With the addition of new housing, the local governments would benefit from property taxes on new development as well as from sales and use taxes on taxable sales within their boundaries. Other beneficial effects would be associated with an expanding economy and employment opportunities associated with energy development and resulting improvements in living standards from those employed in energy-related industries. A negative effect could occur if the pace of growth exceeds the abilities of the affected communities to accommodate energy-related employees and their families with housing and community services.
